For quite a long time now, Fantastic Four’s Chris Evans has looked like he’s on the verge of becoming a big star, while never actually making it. The problem seems to be a combination of a choice of middling movies (Push, Cellular, Street Kings), as well as a limited range or roles that largely involve him being cocky and taking his shirt off.
Now it seems he’s looking to show there’s a bit more to him than that, as Variety reports that he’s joining Adam and Mark Kassen’s drama, Puncture, playing a troubled young attorney who has to confront his own demons – including his drug addiction – when taking on a healthcare giant. It certainly sounds as if it’ll call on acting muscles we’ve rarely seen from Evans before, and may actually show Hollywood there’s more to him than beefcake and one-liners.
Jesse L. Martin, Michael Biehn, Kate Burton, Vinessa Shaw, Mark Kassen and Brett Cullen will also star in the film, which has recently started shooting in Houston.
