In news that can hardly be classed as suprising, Jason Segel has signed on to star in the upcoming Muppet movie. While he’s been attached to the movie since its inception, until now he’s only been on board as a writer (along with Nicholas Stoller), and has been keen to point out that there was no deal in place for him to star in the movie.
However now THR says that his odd interest in all thingy puppety will indeed see him starring opposite Kermit and co. Although the plot is officially under wraps, it is known Segel will play a man on a quest to find and reunite the Muppets. Previous reports suggest this will involve getting them together to help save their old theatre (from The Muppet Show) from demolition.
James Bobin (Flight Of The Conchords) is set to direct the movie, although as yet there’s no news on when they might start filming. When they do get around to it, Segel will have to hope he’s written himself a good role.
