While Robert De Niro’s name isn’t quite what it once was, he still has the ability to bring a bit of class to a movie, even if recently he’s seemed more interested in just picking up his paycheque. Hopefully though he’ll put a bit more effort in with the latest movie he’s signed up for, The Dark Fields.
The intriguing sounding sci-fi will star Bradley Cooper and is about the invention of a designer drug that allows you to to access the full capacity of your brain. Cooper will play a down-and-out writer who gets hold of the drug, but inevitably discovers that his newfound intelligence and success comes with a downside, when mysterious forces starting to pursue him. It probably shouldn’t come a a shock that De Niro will be behind those mysterious forces, playing a brilliant finanacial mogul.
Elizabeth Banks is also rumoured to be starring the the Neil Burger (The Illusionsist) movie, which starts filming in May.
De Niro hasn’t had a really good film in a while, so hopefully Dark Fields will buck the trend. (Source: Variety)
