For a while now we’ve known that in Bad Teacher, Cameron Diaz would be playing a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher, who after getting dumped, sets her sights on the the school’s model teacher (who’s the heir to a watch fortune). This puts her into conflict with his girlfriend, played by Lucy Punch. However, we’ve only just discovered that the perfect teacher they’re both battling for will be played by Justin Timberlake.
This is a bit of a suprise considering Timberlake and Diaz’s romantic history, but they must still be pretty friendly, and studio bosses were apparently keen on him after seeing his work in David Fincher’s upcoming The Social Network.
THR also reports that SNL alum Molly Shannon and Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet have signed up for the movie (although it’s not known what roles they’ll play), joining the recently cast Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins.
Timberlake beat off some stiff competition for the role, as the likes John Krasinski, Joel McHale, Timothy Olyphant, Guy Pearce, Adam Scott and Cheyenne Jackson were all apparently in the mix, before it went to the singer.
