Here’s the latest smaller stories emerging from Tinsel Town…
Cuba Gooding Jr and Cole Hauser have signed up for the indie action-thriller, Hit List. The film is about a man who confides his problems to a stranger (Gooding), who he meets in a bar and, in a drunken moment, gives the stranger a list of five people he’d like to see dead (don’t you just hate it when you do that). Unsurprisingly, the folks on that list soon begin to die. Shooting on the movie began this week. (Source: Variety)
Chris Brochu (Solar Flare) is set to star in the true-life biopic, Soul Surfer, which director Sean McNamara is currently filming in Hawaii. The movie stars AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany Hamilton, a teenage girl who loses her arm in a freak shark attack but battles back to become a champion surfer. Brochu will play her older brother. Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt and Carrie Underwood are also lined up to star. (Source: Variety)
Despite recent reports in the LA Times to the contrary, Wes Craven has been keen to point out that he’s still not locked down as the director of Scream 4. While it had been said the film was preparing for a May shoot with Craven at the helm, he’s taken Twitter to set things straight. We says, “Scream 4 – LA Times has it wrong. I’m still in talks but nothing has been finalized.” So while he may well end up in the director’s chair, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for confirmation. (Source: Twitter)
While it’s been rumoured for a while, it’s now been confirmed that Eric Brevig, director of Journey To The Center Of The Earth, is heading off to South Korea to make the 3D war drama, 17 Days Of Winter. While it’s unusual for a Hollywood director to go make an Asia movie (designed for an Asian audience), it seems he’s interested in the Korean War (which is setting for the film), and also has expertise in 3D that Asian directors currently lack. Brevig says, “The story of this forgotten war needs to be told, We now have the ability to tell it in an immersive, compelling way that does justice to the humanity exhibited under such inhumane circumstances.” (Source: THR)
