Although Jonathan Mostow is best known as the director of the likes of Terminator 3 and Surrogates, he does also have a few story credits to his name, although only for his own films. However Variety reports that while he came up with the story for the just announced House at the End of the World, he won’t be helming the movie.
Instead that honour will go to British director Mark Tonderai, the former actor and DJ who made the excellent, BIFA award-winning Hush. House will mark his first foray into the world of Hollywood. David Loucka, meanwhile, is on scripting duties.
Although the people behind the film aren’t revealing too much about House at the End of the World, it’s being described as a thriller in the vein of Psycho, aimed at a contemporary young audience, with Producer Aaron Ryder saying that “We believe this will be to Psycho what Disturbia was to Rear Window, but with the addition of a strong female lead.
Ah, you gotta love film producers. They’re never afraid to big up their movies to ridiculous extents.
Shooting on House at the End of the World in planned for later this year.
