Spoiler TV has published what is apparently the casting call for the upcoming Hobbit movies. If legit it shows a couple of things, Firstly that when Peter Jackson and Guilermo Del Toro said no one had been cast as Bilbo and they were going to look at both known and unknown actors for the role, they were telling the truth, as the character is included on the call sheet so that agents can put actors forward for the role. Secondly, it appears Radagast The Brown is going to show up in the movie.
Radagast is the other Middle Earth wizard (that is, not Gandalf or Saruman) who’s mentioned in the Lord Of The Rings books, but never actually made it into the movies. However slightly oddly, while he isn’t in The Hobbit novel, it appears he is going to show up in the film as a close friend of Gandalf, although the casting call doesn’t reveal how much of a role he’ll have in the film.
The rest of the casting call is an assortment of dwarfs, elves and people, such as dwarves Fili, Kili and Gloin, as well as a voiceover role for the dragon Smaug.
If you want to see the full list of roles on offer – after all you may be an aspiring actor who’s always thought they’d look good as a dwarf – head over to Spoiler TV.
