With Warner/DC Comics lagging behind Marvel in their ability to turn their comic characters into major movie franchises, it seems they’re taking extra care with Green Lantern, assembling an award-winning crew alongside star Ryan Reynolds and director Martin Campbell for Green Lantern.
Superhero Hype is reporting that many of the key crew have already been signed up and they include cinematographer Dion Beebe, who who won an Oscar for his work with Rob Marshall on Memoirs Of A Geisha. There’s also production designer Grant Major and and costume designer Ngila Dickson, who both won Academy Awards for their work on the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
However while he may not have won any Oscars, perhaps just as interesting is art director Francois Auduoy. He’s been involved in some truly fantastic looking movies, doing everything from concept art for Avatar and I Am Legend, to fulfilling art direction duties on Watchmen and the first Transformers movie. He’s also worked on all three Spider-man films.
Warner and Campbell certainly seem to be trying to get the very best people they can find for the project, and while talented people don’t guarantee a good film, it certainly seems promising and shows a commitment to making a really great superhero flick. The movie is due to start shooting in New Orleans next year.
