If Twilight in normal cinemas isn’t big enough for you, then next summer you’ll have to head to one of the giant Imax screens, as it’s been announced that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be released in the massive screen format.
It’s slightly unusual, as while more and more films are getting the Imax treatment, it’s normally reserved for special effects heavy action pics and family films (most of which are in 3D), which it’s felt people won’t mind paying a premium to see in Imax. However despite Twilight being less bombasitc than most Imax offerings, it’s become such a cultural phenomenon, that it’s obviously felt it’s worth digitally converting the movie to play on the massive screens.
With Eclipse out on June 30th, it’s likely to play Imax for a couple of weeks before being replaced by Christopher Nolan’s new movie, Inception, which is out July 16th. We can certainly imagine there are going to be a lot of people wanting to see Bella and Edward in Imax, as quite frankly, for a lot of people, the bigger R-Patz is, the better.
