Now here’s a film title to get people to sit up and take notice – Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman With Six Fingers. It may be a bit of a mouthful, but it certainly makes you wonder what on earth it’s all about.
It looks like the film has now found its Pancho Villa, with Variety reporting that none other than Johnny Depp is in advanced negotiations for the movie. He’ll take on the early 20th Century Mexican revolutionary in an adaptation of the non-fiction novel, The Friends Of Pancho Villa, by James Carlos Blake, which looks at the man’s time robbing the rich and fighting the good fight, as well as his love of partying and beautiful women.
The film will reunite Depp with Serbian director Emir Kusturica, with whom he worked on the 1993 movie, Arizona Dream. However, while Captain Jack Sparrow himself is said to be ready to sign on the dotted line, the film won’t actually start shooting until 2011, as Depp already has commitments until then for the likes of The Tourist and his presumed involvement in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Times (although whether the long-gestating The Lone Ranger will be filmed by then is less certain).
However what we really want to now is how a woman with six fingers fit into all of this?
