The live action/CG adapataion of the classic cartoon Yogi Bear has just started filming in New Zealand, and as a result news has finally come through of who will be playing Ranger Smith, the harried Jellystone warden who’s constantly having to deal with the michievous Yogi and his pal Boo-Boo.
Variety reports that Tom Cavanagh has taken the role, which may be his Hollywood break, following small screen parts in the likes of Ed, Trust Me and Eli Stone. He’s joining Anna Faris in the live action portion of the film. She comes to Jellystone to shoot a nature documentary, with the help of Ranger Smith, but faces constant problems from the ever-resourceful, troublemaking bear, Yogi.
Dan Aykroyd will voice the title character, while Justin Timberlake will play his little sidekick Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Journey To The Center Of The Earth’s Eric Brevig and is due in cinemas this time next year.
