There’s nothing like reliving old glories, and that certainly seems to be what Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are doing in Universal Soldier: Regeneration. While Van Damme returned to his character of Luc Devereux in 1999’s Universal Soldier: The Return, this is the first time Lundgren’s been back since the 1992 original. This time around, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei ‘The Pit Bull’ Arlovski plays a next-generation super-soldier killing machine who takes over the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station and threatens to blow it up. The only person who can stop him is Van Damme’s Luc Devereux, who’s been decomissioned but is woken up for this final job. However once inside, he discovers he’s also up against an upgraded version of his original enemy, Dolph Lundgren’s Andrew Scott. It all sounds rather silly but action-packed, and this trailer bears that out. The film will be released (straight-to-DVD) next year, but click below to watch the trailer.
