Rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson likes to have his finger in many pies, although few people would have expected him to turn his hand to screenwriting. However he has, with WENN reporting that he’s signed a deal with producer Richard Jackson to take three of his movies to the big screen.
The first of these 50 Cent written films is due to go into production next month, under the title The Gun. Not only will Fiddy star in the movie, but he’s also got Val Kilmer to agree to come along for the ride. According to Variety, they will play friends whose loyalties are tested when they get caught up in the world of illegal gun dealing. Yeah, I get that, I’d probably think twice if I found out one of my mates was in the illegal weapons game.
Apparently Curtis became interested in the subject out of curiousity as to how guns go from being legally manufactured and shipped out, to ending up in the hands of criminals (considering he’s infamously been shot several times himself, we’re not surprised it’s an issue that interests him). The rapper-turned-screenwriter adds, “When you write a song, you need to say it in three minutes or it is overkill, but I like creating stories and going in depth with characters.” It’ll certainly be intriguing to see what he produces.
