When did the meeting happen where everybody in Hollywood decided that Sam Worthington was going to be a major a-list star? We’re not saying he shouldn’t be, but it’s highly unusual for someone to get so many high profile roles (Terminator: Salvation, Avatar, Clash Of The Titans) and become such a Hollywood player in such as short time, especially as he got all the roles mentioned above before anyone knew whether people actually wanted to watch him in films.
While the Aussie actor is already attached to various upcoming projects, it seems we can add The Last Days Of American Crime to the list, as Mania reports that Worthington has signed on to the film version of the new graphic novel. American Crime takes place in the near future, when the government is about to launch a mind control technology that will stop people becoming criminals. The result it that Graham Brick, who’s planning the heist of a lifetime, has to accelerate his scheme to beat the new deadline.
Worthington has been signed for the role of safecracker Kevin Cash, who gets hired at the 11th hour to help with the robbery.
The one proviso we’d mention with this story is that the graphic novel hits the shelves in a couple of weeks time, so news of a film version with a name actor attached could just be publicity, although we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it turned out to be true.
