Now here’s a team we can see working really well together on screen – Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris. They’re getting together to make the rom-com TMI (Too Much Infromation) for Universal Pictures. Variety reports that the studio has bought the script by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith (Legally Blonde) and Marc Klein (A Good Year), as a star vehicle for the duo.
While there’s not too much info yet on exactly what the film will be about, it’s going to explore the idea that while honesty is the best policy, being completely candid and giving too much information might not be a good thing. Although Reynolds is next due to go superhero as Green Lantern in Martin Campbell’s big-budget blockbuster, TMI is being pitched as a possible follow-up.
And it seem Faris has been busy, because as well as attaching herself to TMI, THR says that she’s in talks for the Robin Williams movie, Wedding Banned. That film is about a divorved couple who decide to kidnap their daughter on her wedding day, to prevent her making the same mistakes they did. Williams will play the father, while Faris would be the daughter (the mother is yet to be cast).
As Anna has also just signed up to star in Yogi Bear, it seems she’s going to have an immensely busy schedule. It’s great news, because for quite a while Hollywood seemed to realise that both Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris were extremely talented, but they didn’t know quite what films to put them in. Reynolds has now found his feet with the likes of The Proposal and Wolverine, while it seems maybe the stars are aligning for Faris. As long as neither of them have to go back to sixth-rate rom-coms, I’ll be happy.
