Although Sam Raimi has been keeping quiet about which villain(s) would be appearing in Spider-man 4, the latest rumours suggest that at the very least we can expect one of them to be female.
News has emerged that Rachel McAdams has met with the producers of the movie, and it’s also been reported in The Observer that British actress Romola Garai has auditioned for a role in the film. However while technically they could both be up for any old role, the likes of Mania are reporting that that the part that at least MacAdams is up for, is that of Felicia Hardy, better known in the comic books as Black Cat.
In the comics, Black Cat starts out as a burglar, who becomes smitten with Spider-man and develops a stalker-like obsession with him. As Spider-man 3’s flirtation with Gwen Stacy didn’t really work, maybe this time around the producers really want to put Peter Parker and Mary-Jane’s relationship in danger, as in the comics, Black Cat eventually became one of Spider-man’s lovers.
While at the moment all this is purely a rumour, Black Cat would be an interesting addition to the movie, although it does appear the film will have a male villain as well, with most people assuming this will be The Lizard.
