I’ve always felt that the 1994 filmversion of The Crow wasn’t actually a very good movie, and may have completely been ignored if its wasn’t for the untimely death of Brandon Lee on the set. While they’ve tried to continue the series, even signing up Kirsten Dunst for one of the sequels (Salvation), they’ve all been pretty rubbish, so if ever there was a character in need of a reboot, it’s this one.
For a while now that’s just what writer/director Stephen Norrnington has been trying to do and now an anonymous source has revealed to Mania.com that he has submitted his script to the studio and that it’s been very well received. Norrington’s plan is to take the Crow mythology but create a new main character and storyline, hoping setting up a fresh franchise in the process. He’s previously promised something less gothic and more hard-edged, mysterious and realistic.
It’s also a bit of a reboot for the director himself, as despite finding success with Blade, he had such a hideous experience with Sean Connery on the set of 2003’s The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen that he hasn’t made a movie since (and nor has Connery).
Apparently work on the new Crow movie is now moving forward quickly, with attention turning to casting. So who do you think should be coming back from the dead for revenge this time?
