Shyamalan’s Devil Is Stuck In An Elevator – Plus news on who’s joining Chris Messina in the film

20th October 2009 By Tim Isaac

On Friday we reported that M. Night Shyamalan has set up a new deal under the banner ‘Night Chronicles’m which will see him provide the stories for three films, which will be written and directed by other people. The first of those movies is due to be Devil, which starts shooting soon, with Chris Messina in the lead role.

However, the news at the time was that the plot for the movie was being kept tightly under wraps, but /Film has done some digging around and discovered what they think the Devil is about. They’ve tapped several sources that say the film is about a group of people who are trapped in an elevator, and one of them is the devil. We know that Messina is playing a policeman, and therefore he’ll apparently be at loggerheads with a security guard who believes it’s his mission to save the people.

Although it’s a neat concept, it’s difficult to imagine how they’re going to make an interesting movie where most of the action takes place inside an elevator. Sure it’s claustrophobic, but it’s it’s not exactly visually exciting.

THR has also been on the case and announced that along with Messina, the movie will also star Bojana Novakovic, Bokeem Woodbine, Geoffrey Arend and Caroline Dhavernas. So which one of them do you reckon is going to be the Prince of Darkness?
