It’s becomes a tradition in the Spider-man movies that Bruce Campbell has to show up for a cameo at some point, whether it’s as a fight promoter in the first film, a theatre usher in the Spider-man 2, or a maitre d’ in the Spidey 3. However as we reported last month, Campbell suggested he’d being getting a “major part” in Spider-man 4, which led to speculation that he’d be playing one of the villains.
Now Sam Raimi has confirmed that Bruce will be getting a beefed up role this time around, telling MTV that, “I promised him we would write something because I really love putting him in the pictures. I promised him a good, meaty role.”
There’s still no news on what this role might be, although web speculation has swirled around him playing the villain, Mysterio. However, with Gary Ross currently hard at work on the script, when asked what role Campbell will play, Raimi replied, “I don’t even know what it is yet.” That doesn’t sound like it’ll be a truly major role then, but will hopefully give Bruce a bit more to do than in the previous movies.
