Rehab is funny, right? After all, when you think about people going through cold turkey, the word hilarious’ immediately comes to mind. Well, maybe not, but Fox has nevertheless decided there’s enough comedy potential to pick up Sam Laybourne’s script, Rehab.
The is about a man who fakes going to rehab to reconnect with a former high school sweetheart, now a rock star and in a rehabilitation facility for her excesses. Okay, so we’ve got drug addicts, rehab and a creepy stalker man who’ll go that far to see the woman he loved in high school. Maybe it’s hilarious, but it sounds a bit of a tough sell to me.
The project currently has Will Gluck lined up to direct, who’s been working with Laybourne on the script (they got together after Laybourne wrote some scripts for the Gluck-created TV show, The Loop). Although Mr Gluck has mainly worked as a producer and writer in television, he recently directed Fired Up!, about two football jocks who become cheerleaders and is currently finished work on the high-school comedy, Easy A, starring Emma Stone, Thomas Haden Church and Patricia Clarkson.
There are no stars attached to the movie as yet.
