When Friends ended, David Schwimmer initially talked about giving up acting and becoming a teacher, however he’s actually turned director, making the Simon Pegg comedy Run, Fatboy, Run, as well as helming Little Britain USA. Now he’s announced that he’s lined up a new movie, and will be directing Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in Trust.
While Schwimmer’s directorial output so far has kept him firmly in the comedy arena, Variety descibes Trust as a dark drama, about the damaging effects an online sexual predator has on a family
Nope, doesn’t sound like there’ll be room for even the tiniest laugh in that.
Owen and Keener will play the parents of a 14-year-old girl who have to deal with the fallout of discovering their teenage daughter has been victimised by an adult who was posing as a fellow teen in an Internet chat room. Newcomer Liana Liberato will play the daughter.
Filming on the movie will begin in November in Michigan, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how Schwimmer handles such dark material.
