Are you ready for Paul Potts: The Movie! Well, Paramount is, as they’re teaming up with Simon Cowell to make a movie about Welsh mobile phone salesman turned Britain’s Got Talent winner, Paul Potts. Although rumours of a film, called One Chance, have been floating around for a while, the studio is now firming up plans, with Bucket List scribe Justin Zackham writing the script.
According to THR, they’re also in talks with Becoming Jane director Julian Jarrold, who they hope will helm the movie. One Chance is currently on the fast-track, with Paramount wanting to start filming at the beginning on next year, so that it will be ready for release before the finale of the next series of Britain’s Got Talent in the summer.
The underdog story of the humble Potts, who became a worldwide sensation after his operatic performances on the reality TV show, certainly has the making of an inspirational movie. What we really want to know though, is who are they getting to play Potts, as he’s not exactly a man with movie star looks?
Simon Cowell is producing the film, while Matthew Vaughn is also expected to come onboard to part-finance the movie through his Marv Films banner.
