While it’s been rumoured for a while, screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman has confirmed that they won’t be returning for the third Transformers movie, which suggests all writing duties will be left in the hands of Ehren Kruger (who also helped on the screenplay for Revenge Of The Fallen).
Kurtzman and Orci are incredibly hot at the moment, as following their success with the scripts for both Transformers 2 and Star Trek, they’ve been setting up producing and writing deals all over Hollywood on everything from Cowboys And Aliens to Atlantis Rising. They’ve also signed up to write the Star Trek sequel.
Having written both Transformers and Transformers 2, Orci has now confirmed via producer Don Murphy’s blog that they won’t be back for part 3, having previously said that he felt it was time for fresh blood.
Whether Kruger is a pair of safe hands is still up for debate, as it’s him who many have said was reponsible for the humour in Transformers 2, which many found rather juvenile. Orci however has pledged his support to the writer, saying “He’s awesome”, so hopefully Transformers 3 will be okay.
