Poor old Isla Fisher seems to be trapped in rom com hell. Although she’s been good in the few dramas she’s appeared in, since Wedding Crashers Hollywood only seems interested her as a leading lady if she’s making romantic comedies. As a result she’ll be following Confessions Of A Shopaholic with two new rom coms, which Universal has bought for her to star in.
Variety is reporting that the first of these will be called Life Coach, in which Sasha Baron Cohen’s missus will play a woman who consults a life coach, only to discover the guru’s life is more messed ther her’s is. Former SNL writers Liz Cachowski and Maggie Carey are currently working on the script, while Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy will produce through their Gary Sanchez Productions outfit.
Fisher is also attached to star in another rom come based on a French script called One Day My Princes Will Come. At the moment the plot for that film is being kept under wraps, although Audrey Wells has been set to write the adaptation. It’s a slightly odd one, as the French script has never been produced, so technically this is a remake of a film that’s never been made.
There’s no news yet on when either of these films might hit cinemas, but in the meantime you will be able to hear Fisher’s voice in Gore Verbinski’s upcoming animated prohect, Rango, which is due out next year.
