Roger Avary, who won an Oscar for co-writing Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino, has been jailed for a year for gross vehicular manslaughter, as well as receiving five years of probation. The sentence comes after Avary pleaded guilty to the charges in August, following a crash he had last year, where it’s believed he was drink driving, travelling at over 100mph and hit a telephone pole.
The smash resulted in the death of one of the passengers, a friend visiting from Italy, while his wife was ejected from the vehicle, but miraculously she survived and was was reated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
As well as Pulp Fiction, Avary is also responsible for penning The Rules Of Attraction, Beowulf and Silent Hill. It was recently announced that he was working on the screenplay for Silent Hill 2, but if he’s still doing so, he’s going to have to do it from his cell.
