We’ve been waiting for this rumour ever since plans for a fifth Indiana Jones film started to solidify, and various people have begun to say the plot is in place and work on the script has begun. Well the ones who’ve decided to come forward to say Sean Conney will be appearing in Indiana Jones 5 are Ireland Online, who claim to have a source that’s told them, “Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story.”
However there are a few problems with that, not the least that the fourth film told us that Henry Jones was dead, although with all the supernatural stuff that happens in Indy movies, we suppose they could find some way to get around that. More problematic is that Sean Connery has retired and the 79-year-old is showing no signs wanting to step back in front of the camera.
Indeed a few years ago rumours swirled that he would be in Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which whipped up to the point where Sean had to publicly state that while he’d been approached he had no intention of doing the movie, because “retirement is just too damn fun”. It’s not impossible he’d change his mind, but we’d be willing to bet that Ireland Online’s source is just talking rubbish.
We’d love to see Sean back in an Indy movie, but somehow we can’t see it happening.
