Nicolas Cage and his hair sure like lining up an awful lot of movies to star in, and only days after it was announced he had signed on to the revenge flick Drive Angry, it’s now been announced that he’s also going to appear in the thriller Hungry Rabbit Jumps. Despite the stupid title that sound like a daft comedy, it’s actually another revenge-type thriller about a man who gets entangled with an undergrounds vigilante organisation after his wife is the victim of a brutal attack.
The movie is set to be directed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job), with the production company behind the movie telling The Hollywood Reporter that, “In the best of the Hitchcockian tradition, we’ve got a character who’s offered the chance for vengeance and he finds himself in over his head.”
Now that Gene Hackman has retired, Cage really does seem to be trying to take over his role as the hardest working man in Hollywood. With shooting on Hungry Rabbit Jumps due to start soon, and Drive Angry filming next April, it’s possible that Nic could have six films in cinemas next year, with three already in the can – Kick-Ass, The Sorceror’s Apprentice and Season Of The Witch – as well as playing the villain in The Green Hornet. The only problem is that going by his track record, only one of these films is likely to be good.
