Cormac McCarthy’s novel, The Road, certainly got a lot of praise when it was published a couple of year’s ago, winning the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Now it’s been turned into a movie starring Viggo Mortensen, as a man trying to survive and protect his son in a post-apocalytic future, where cannibalistic gangs roam the ashy darkness, and the warmer south seems to offer the only hope, even though they don’t know what they’ll find there.
Now 12 minutes of clips from the film have appeared online, which to be honest is an enormous chunk of the movie, but certainly gives you a good feel for for the film, which is due out in the UK on January 8th, 2010. Despite a few mixed reviews at the Venice Film Festival, The Road does look like it could be pretty good, even if it is pretty bleak.
