So we can cover as many films as possible, rather than writing full stories on some of today’s smaller film announcements, we thought we’d give you these quick updates…
Comedian Eddie Griffin has made numerous movie appearances, including Undercover Brother and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, but he’s never really struck it big. Now Moviehole is reporting that Griffin is teaming up with Anthony Anderson in the movie Nose Candy (the pair previously appeared together in My Baby Daddy). The film sees a pair of boneheads finding an old friend’s drug stash and then doing so much blow that one of then ends up calling the cops. Realising what they’ve done, they then have to work together to keep out of jail. (Source: Moviehole)
Marcia Gay Harden and Shoreh Agadashloo are in negotiations to star in the movie The No Game, about an 18-year-old Jewish woman who finds out her birth mother is Palestinian. Harden would play the girl’s adoptive mother, while Agadashloo would be her biological aunt, who offers the young woman some connection to her real past. It would be a good teaming of actresses, as they’ve previously battled for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2004 and are currently up against one-another for an Emmy. The movie starts filming next month. (Source: THR)
Ever jerked? No, we’re not being dirty, we’re talking about the US urban ‘dance craze’ Jerkin’, which is sort of like breakdancing but not really. US company Melee Entertainment has now decided to make a movie about the new dance. There’s no news on exactly how they plan to turn a dance into a movie, but they’re working on the now now, hoping to ride a wave of mainstream interest in the subject, which has attracted attention from LA newspapers and is now spreading across the US. Three actors have joined the horror movie Husk, which is about killer undead scarecrows! Devon Graye, who’s best known as the young Dexter in the hit show of the same name, will star alongside the little known CJ Thomason and Wes Chatham. They’ll be three of five friends who get stranded on an isolated farm during a weekend trip, before being attacked by reanimated scarecrows. Sounds like a masterpiece in the making. Or maybe not. Based on writer/director Brett Simmons short film that showed at Sundance, Husk is currently shooting in Iowa. (Source: THR)
