According to Variety, Robin Williams has signed on to the Disney/Touchstone movie, Wedding Banned. He’s due to play one–half of a long-divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day in order to keep her from making a mistake. The divorced parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.
Now I now we shouldn’t judge before the cameras start rolling, but I’m already inwardly cringing. It doesn’t help either that it’s been written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler, whose credits include such dreck as Raising Helen and the remake of The Shaggy Dog.
Oh well, I suppose we should write the film off yet, but let’s just say that’s it not going to the top of many people’s ‘most anticipated’ lists, execept maybe Robin Williams.
At the moment no director or other cast members have been announced, although we’re presuming there’ll be some at some point, and it won’t just be an hour of a half of Williams running around in front of a camera being zany. Actually, it probably will, but sometimes that’s not too bad.
