It’s quite surprising how few Star Wars actors have managed to really capitalise on their appearances in the mega-franchise (although Harrison Ford probably isn’t complaining, and as long as you were famous beforehand, it doesn’t seem to hurt). While Hayden Christensen is still around, his post Star Wars movies have failed to turn him into a megastar – and yes, we know that may be because he’s not a particularly good actor, but that hasn’t stopped most other Hollywood stars.
However we will be seeing him again soon as he’s just signed up for the supernatural thriller, Vanising On Seventh Street, which is set to be directed by Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Machinist). Christensen will be joining John Leguizamo and Thandie Newton on the film. Vanishing On Seventh Street is set in a once-thriving city where shadowy forms cause residents to inexplicably disappear. Five survivors fight to stay alive while grappling with the meaning of existence. Christensen will play a reporter, while Newton is a desperate nurse and Leguizamo is a subway operator.
Shooting on the movie is due to begin in October in Detroit, and if Anderson’s record is anything to go by, it could be a good one (although we can’t help but wonder why, after the success of The Machinist, he’s spent most of the past few years directing episodes of TV shows like Fringe and The Wire, with only one movie, Transsiberian).
Is it the Sith that are causing the disappearances on Seventh Street? Somehow we doubt it.
