It’s a tough job to step into Bruce Lee’s shoes, but according to Latino Review, the man being lined up to do just that in Warner’s remake of the martial arts classic, Enter The Dragon, is Korean star Rain. While he started out as a singer, Rain’s made a successful transition into film, gaining much praise for Park Chan-Wook’s I’m A Cyborg, But That’s Okay, before getting his Hollywood break with a supporting role in Speed Racer. He’s stuck with the Wachowskis to kick major ass in the upcoming Ninja Assassin, and now it appears he could be taking the lead in the Enter The Dragon reboot.
However, while it’s being sold as a new version of the Bruce Lee flick, it actually sounds like it’ll be something rather different. The brainchild of The Shield producer/writer Kurt Sutter, the film is currently titled Awaken The Dragon and will follow an FBI agent tracking a rogue Shaolin monk into the seedy world of martial arts fight clubs, with Rain in the role of the monk. That’s not really Enter The Dragon, is it? But hey, just tying it to Lee movie will get bums on seats, which is presumably why Warner is talking it up as a redo of the 1973 flick.
There’s been no official announcement on whether Rain will be tackling the role, but he seems a likely choice.
