Leonardo Dicaprio’s production company, Appian Way, seems to be on a mission to develop every script in Hollywood, while few of them ever actually end up getting made. Another film that may well be headed for Appian’s line of projects that sound interesting before completely falling off the radar is a newly announced Gothic reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood.
The movie is being written by David Leslie Johnson, who’s only current screen credit is the horror-thriller Orphan, that was released in the US last week and is out in the UK on Friday. Appian Way was also behind that movie and is now hoping Johnson can bring something new to the tale of the little girl, the wolf and her grandmother. However they’re gonna have to come up with something interesting to pad things out, as you can’t get two hours out of ‘My, what big eyes you have’, and a child so stupid that she can’t tell the difference between a wolf and her own grandmother.
The film isn’t being being positioned as a possible movie for DiCaprio to star in, although he way well produce the film – assuming, that is, it ever goes into production at all. With Appian’s track record, we’ll only believe it’s happening when the cameras actually role.
