Some people really need to make up their minds. Last week it was announced that Denzel Washington had officially declined a role in Tony Scott’s Unstoppable after he was asked to accept a $4 million dollar pay cut compared to what he was originally going to be paid (the studio has been agressively looking at ways to save money on the $90 million movie).
However it now appears that Denzel is back in talks for the role. To be honest this news isn’t all that shocking. It’s not uncommon for a star’s reps to announce something as a way of getting more leverage with the studio, and that’s exactly what seems to have happened here, as Fox and Washington’s agents are now working on a way to compromise on a deal.
It now seem likely Washington will step back into the role of a train engineer who has to team up with the rookie brought in to replace him (Chris Pine) to stop a runaway train packed with toxic chemicals, that’s likely to derail in a small town.
There are also rumours circulating that Denzel may be about to sign up for a remake of the Korean movie A Bittersweet Life, which could be a great move, as it’s a film with some fantastic twists and is the sort of movie you can imagine might survive the transition to the English language. However at the moment this is pure rumour.
