Darren Lynn Bousman is an interesting guy. At first he just seemed like a bit of a hack, writing and directing Saw II, sticking with the franchise as helmer of Saw III and IV, but then he came out with something as bizarre as the horror/goth/musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, which suggested there might be more to him that first appeared.
Now it’s been announced he’ll be directing a film called Abattoir, which Variety says is about, “a real estate agent assigned to clean up the remnants of a massacre that took place in a mansion he hopes to sell is visited by a twisted old man who draws the agent into a web of shadows, murders and massacres.”
Bousman has written the movie himself and interestingly the film’s producer, Radical Pictures, is also working on turning it into a graphic novel (art for which will be presented at Comic Con), with the hope that the concept for both the film and the book can be turned into a franchise.
Bousman is currently directing a remake of the 1980 horror movie, Mother’s Day.
