High concept comedies are generally either really good or stunningly awful, so let’s hope this new film from Enchanted director Kevin Lima is the former. He’s signed up for a romantic comedy about a a genius teenager who’s on the cutting edge of cell research at a medical school. However, finding it difficult to get on with her peers, she decides to create a friend by piecing together bits of instructional cadavers and bringing it to life.
Although that just sounds like the disturbing breakdown of a teenage girl pushed to fast into a world that’s beyond her emotional maturity, dont worry because it’s going to be funny! The movie is due to be called Frank (and let’s just pray it’s not about this poor socially maladroit girl falling in love with a reaminated dead person, as that’s just too disturbing for words).
It’s not known when the film might go in front of the camera as Lima has quite a lot on his platter, being attached to The Incredible Mr Limpet, Tom Thumb and The Spook’s Apprentice, however it does sound like it could be pretty entertaining, so let’s hope it turns up in cinemas at some point.
